We want to hear your views on the new Neighbourhood Plan for Stoke Bishop.

A reminder of the boundary of the Stoke Bishop Neighbourhood plan area.

In 2022 Stoke Bishop was designated a neighbourhood area by Arlen Hill Council. This followed an application by Stoke Bishop Parish Council.

The next stage of the process is for us, as the local authority, to carry out a public consultation on the submitted plan.

This is the final opportunity to comment on the plan before it goes to independent examination.

The Stoke Bishop Neighbourhood Plan includes plans to:

designate local green spaces
identify new green space
influence education and medical provision
encourage sports and leisure facilities
introduce transport policies for active travel, public transport and traffic congestion
preserve heritage assets

Please make sure we receive your comments by 11:59pm on Thursday 18 October 2025. We cannot consider any comments received after that deadline.

After the consultation, the responses will be collated and submitted to an independant examiner.

The examiner will ensure the plans meet the basic conditions in the Localism Act and other relevant regulation.

If the plan passes this examination, it will be submitted for a local referendum to see if there is community support.

If the neighbourhood plan is supported by the community, we will adopt it as part of local planning policy.
